Nerdy Boys with Tattoos = HOT (Part II)

He did it!  Last night Evan got his first tattoo.  It's a band of his own design around his arm with some nerdy references from the Sci-Fi novel "Ender's Game" and it looks fabulous.

We were at the tattoo shop for about 2 hours last night and had the nicest tattoo artist, Chase at XS Tattoo in Rochester.  He was so great that I think I'm going to be making an appointment with him the near future to fix/change mine up.  Tattoos are addictive for sure.

Unfortunately, we were both a little too keyed up after the tattooing experience for Chipotle (sigh), but that's ok, tonight we're off for Chicago!  When I return, I promise to post some excellent photos from the comic book convention.

kevin - i'm actually surprised comments went on this long without anyone asking.

so, a rough overview of ender's game with no spoliers. earth has been attacked by alien bugs, and they narrowly fight them off. estimates are that it will take the aliens approximately 30 years to return from thier homeworld. in that time the military attempts to train a new leader for the space fleet to defend earth. children are deemed the most malleable psychologically, and the most adaptive in military strategy.

ender is chosen as the brightest and best in the training facility. each student is assigned to an "army" for skirmishes, and ender is chosen to lead an army. the army they give him has a cursed history, and is legendary for its losing record. he takes the dragon army, as it is called, and makes it the most successful army in battle school history.

now, each army is given a color identifier, and the color identifier for dragon army is gray-orange-gray. hence the three color bars on the inside of my arm.

the design is roughly inspired by the mobius strip, a closed loop with one twist.
