my bad! yes, lilies smell like cheap hot dogs and death. Pretty to look at, though.

Not really the smell, but I do sometimes see them, and they remind me of funerals.

JDub - Lilies not Lilacs! I love the the smell of Lilacs!
Jen - Good to know, although for me it doesn't seem to come before death, just a reminder of it. I think because they're used so often in funeral arrangements?

Whenever my cousin Carolina smells lilies she knows death is around, and eventually she gets a call announcing someone's death. Very disturbing to her, as you can imagine. So, to answer your question, yes, inexplicable flower smells to some people represent death.
